Rodney Joe Gilbreath (born September 24, 1954 in Laurel, Mississippi) was a Major League Baseball second baseman from 1972 to 1978 for the Atlanta Braves.[1]

Rod Gilbreath attended Watkins High School in Laurel, Mississippi. After high school he enrolled in Jones County Junior College.
Gilbreath was selected in the 3rd round (69th overall) of the 1970 Major League Baseball Draft. He proceeded to enter the major leagues in 1972, Rod was only 19 years old.
In 1976 Rod led the National League with 20 sacrifice hits.[2]
